My Story…

19th April 2013…the blog was born…

This blog/website is a culmination of many interests colliding at the same time…

Talking and writing came to me as easily as breathing! I have always told stories as long as I could talk and I’ve been writing as long as I could write!

When I was a child, I kept diaries, wrote comic books, stories and plays; in fact, when I was about 9, with my first cassette player, I recorded ‘Trials and Tribulations of Nursery School’ – with me doing most of the voices and Gary, my brother, acting out the rest. We had our own radio show – not that we broadcasted – that we recorded on my trusty tape-player! Also, took possession of my dad’s typewriter until I was bought my own that next Christmas.

Also, around that time, I acquired my dad’s Kodak camera and taught myself to take pictures; I spent my pocket money getting the 126 film developed at Boot’s! For my 10th birthday, I was given my own point and shoot with 110 film. My Aunt Carol, another avid photographer, was very encouraging; she still is. At 20, after graduating, the week before I moved to London, I bought myself a used Minolta SLR with telephoto zoom lens, wide lens, flash gun, exposure meter etc and loved roaming around London taking photos. Quite a few of my friends were in bands at the time, I did some publicity shoots for them.

A favorite night was at the old Marquee, on Wardour St in Soho; I sat on a huge amp on the side of the stage, taking photos of Lords of The New Church. The bassist girl friend wasn’t too happy and tried stalking me to get the film from me! Back then, I wore wigs, so, I slipped off the black Cleopatra one I was wearing, fixed my long platinum blonde hair underneath, and wandered off to the St. Moritz club, where I encountered the band and the stupid, over-reacting girl-friend, who didn’t recognize me!

Always loved to travel and explore, see new places, meet new people. If I could get paid to travel, write and take photos – I would be the happiest person on the planet! So, this website is all these things coming together.

I’m working on a novel – there will be a special page about that coming soon – which is my baby – and I got my domain name and website ages ago, but never knew what to do with it; so, I did nothing. My horror at the Boston bombings in April 2013 galvanized me into action; I wanted to do a marathon to say – : “To hell with you, bastard terrorists – you’ve not only made me not scared, you’ve inspired me to do something that I never wanted to do before, just because I can!”

So, here I am, a presence in the world, on the web, doing what I do best – sharing stories through my writing and photographs…hoping to entertain and inspire…

One of my favorite mottos – Go for it! You’ve nothing to lose but regret….
